About Fabio Affuso Photography of London, UK.

Growing up in Naples in the 80s, I’ve always been drawn to rather exciting people and their extraordinary life stories. Back then, there wasn’t one day when you didn’t see someone hacking a unique way to accomplish something. Calling this ‘resourceful’ would be underplaying it. And so with a great curiosity for life, at the age of 19 and fresh out of high school, I moved to London, UK, where without any real command of the English language it was my turn to see what I could hack.

Without diverging too much in other stories (however unlikely and amusing they may be) let's just say that numerous adventures, a career in hospitality management, extensive travel, a First Photography BA Hons, and a 10 years’ lighting and digital technitian career with some of the best in the game then turned me into the human being, photographer, writer and motorcycle rider that I am today.

I regularly work on self initiated projects like portrait series, adventure journeys and reportage stories which I photograph, write about, and then independently syndicate, as well as on commissions from commercial clients, magazines and production companies. Often times I also combine commerical and editorial, collaborating with brands to create original content that strenghten and establishes their ethos.

My photography focuses on the daring and extrovert nature of men and women who live life to the fullest. My subjects are creatives, visionaries, sometimes impostors and very often self made professionals. They often have a taste for style, using fashion as a defining element of their personality and character. They reflect an attitude of self-confidence and freedom in a world where everything is possible.

Thanks to my background in fashion, I comfortably move between a controlled studio setup using a variety of equipment, and a freer and more spontaneous documentary style. Whichever the project or brief, I am always on the conscious search for the perfect balance of beautiful light, elegant form and decisive moment.

I currently live between London and Naples.
